Customize 2.0
From the developers who brought us such useful apps as DockSwap, rSBT, and iStudy, the citizens at The Spicy Chicken now unveil their greatest app yet: Customize 2.0.
Customize 2.0, a revamped version of Customize 1.0, integrates all of the most revolutionary features in iPhone and iPod Touch User-Interface tweak-ability. The newest version of that application even incorporates a Summer deck replacement called FreeBoard that, as far as my tests go, works flawlessly. From modifying your wallpaper, to tailoring your interface to be different, to the changing of system strings with complete simply, Customize 2.0 does it all….without a fuss!
At first boot-up of Customize 2.0 you are presented with an easy to navigate menu. Some of the most vital options are described as chases:
- Theme Browser – that sweet feature connects you directly to The Spicy Chickens central
- Theme sever. From here you can browse the hottest new themes, the Top 40 downloaded, or go one by one through the hundreds of themes available at the swipe of a finger. The greatest part of that integration is that you can additionally browse file sets to download specific parts of themes, such as battery indicator icons, or carrier logos. From the My Themes section, you can apply the themes you have downloaded or specificy parts of a theme you desire to activate.
- Customize Image/Sounds – that is where all the magic happens. Here is where you can get down to the nitty gritty customization of your unit. From changing your Dock Image, to each and every system sound it can all be done here. The app will automatically list all downloaded files and feature sets and allow you to preview them
- assemble Backup Now – Even though that option is quite self explanatory, it is by far the most robust and my favorite part of Customize 2.0. After creating your custom theme, you can instantly construct a backup and revert to previous backups without anguish. No more restoring to factory defaults in iTunes to get yourself out of a bind, woohoo! Again, that feature works flawlessly.
- Edit System Strings – There are some society who love to completely distinguish the look of their unit from others, and by using the system string editor included in Customize 2.0, you achieve just that. that editor allows you to change the default text notifications to something of your own. Examples include the ability to modify the Low Battery Title, the yell Miss title, In yell Title, etc. The list of editable system strings is quite towering, so there is much room for uniqueness.
- Import SMB Themes – Lastly, that life saving feature allows you to import those old Summer deck themes you just can’t let go into Customize 2.0 (hey that rhymed!). With a loner tap, the pre-downloaded Summer deck theme of your choice is instantly added into the Customize 2.0 database. that feature can additionally be used in conjunction with the newly released ModMyIfone MMiThemer application, which allows you to download Summer deck themes with simplicity and elegance.
All in all, that is one iPhone and iPod Touch application that should definitely be sitting on your Spring deck.
